Hours of work: 40 hours per week (or part time equivalent)
Salary Range: Between £40k and £45k DOE (pro rata for part time)
Annual Leave: 28 days including Bank Holiday (/pro rata)
Location: Your base site of work is Devonshire Business Centre, Works Road, Letchworth, Garden City, Hertfordshire, SG6 1GJ.
Office based (with remote working as agreed) + travel across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, London & wider regions as required.
You will not be required to work outside the United Kingdom.

Job Summary
The Marketing Manager will lead the delivery of the company’s marketing, communications and engagement strategy. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating marketing activity that strengthens the organisation’s reputation, supports occupancy and partnerships, and ensures consistent and high-quality communication across all channels.
This role combines strategic planning with hands-on delivery, overseeing brand development, digital presence, content creation, marketing CRM activity, and external reputation management. The Marketing Manager will ensure that marketing processes are organised, measurable and aligned with organisational priorities.
The postholder will manage the marketing function, including supporting and developing the Marketing Assistant, and will work closely with colleagues across the organisation including Referrals & Partnerships, Operations, and Leadership to ensure marketing activity supports service development, referrals and engagement.
The role has been created to strengthen the organisation’s ability to deliver consistent content production, coordinated campaigns, tender and award positioning, and effective communication with commissioners, partners and the wider community.
You will be required to work autonomously as well as collaboratively across teams. You will set an example for all staff and be an ambassador for the company.

Job Role Overview
Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Marketing Strategy & Planning
Lead the implementation and ongoing development of Abacus’ marketing and communications strategy.
Develop and maintain a structured annual marketing plan and campaign calendar aligned with organisational priorities.
Identify opportunities to strengthen organisational reputation, visibility and engagement across target audiences.
Work collaboratively with senior colleagues to ensure marketing activity supports occupancy, referrals, recruitment and partnerships.
Monitor performance of marketing initiatives and adapt strategies based on insights and results.
2. Brand & Visual Identity
Lead the rollout, governance and continued development of Abacus’ brand guidelines and visual identity.
Ensure consistent and professional use of branding across all organisational communications and materials.
Oversee the development and maintenance of branded templates, assets and marketing resources.
Manage the organisation’s digital asset libraries (Canva, SharePoint) ensuring accuracy, accessibility and version control.
Coordinate photography and video projects including scheduling, consent processes and production planning.
3. Digital & Social Media
Oversee Abacus’ digital presence, including social media channels, website content and online listings.
Develop and manage a structured social media strategy across platforms including Instagram and LinkedIn.
Monitor digital engagement and use analytics to identify opportunities for improved reach and visibility.
Ensure Google My Business listings and organisational information remain accurate and up to date.
Coordinate website updates and oversee regular accuracy and content checks.
4. Content Creation & Storytelling
Lead the development of engaging and meaningful content that reflects the organisation’s work and values.
Oversee the creation of blogs, case studies, success stories and placement updates.
Work with operational teams to gather stories and updates in a sensitive, respectful and compliant manner.
Ensure communications highlight the experiences and achievements of People We Support while maintaining dignity and privacy.
Maintain a consistent organisational tone across all communications.
5. Marketing CRM & Communications
Manage the organisation’s Brevo CRM marketing system to support structured communications and audience engagement.
Oversee segmentation and management of mailing lists.
Lead the creation and distribution of newsletters including:
The Monthly Round Up internal newsletter
External updates and communications where appropriate
Commissioner vacancy alerts
Monitor campaign performance metrics and produce clear marketing reports to inform future activity.
6. Awards, Events & Reputation Building
Identify and manage opportunities for industry awards, recognition schemes and accreditations.
Lead the preparation and submission of award applications in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation.
Support accreditation and quality recognition processes where marketing input is required.
Oversee the organisation and promotion of internal and external events including:
Seasonal events
Industry conferences
Key organisational calendar activities.
7. Tender Monitoring & Market Intelligence
Oversee monitoring of relevant portals and sources for tender opportunities and frameworks.
Maintain oversight of tender pipelines and work collaboratively with the Referrals & Partnerships team.
Coordinate the gathering of marketing and organisational information required for tender submissions.
Support Abacus’ positioning in new markets through market awareness and marketing insight.
8. Marketing Operations & Team Leadership
Provide guidance and day-to-day direction to the Marketing Assistant, supporting their development and ensuring effective delivery of marketing tasks.
Maintain marketing calendars, project plans and workflow management to ensure timely delivery of activity.
Manage the marketing inbox and oversee responses to enquiries where appropriate.
Support the production of presentations, reports and marketing documentation.
Encourage colleagues across the organisation to engage with marketing initiatives and contribute stories and content.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience
Essential
Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
Significant experience in marketing, communications, digital marketing or a related field.
Experience developing and delivering marketing strategies, campaigns or communications plans.
Strong content creation and storytelling skills across digital, social and written formats.
Experience managing or overseeing social media channels such as Instagram and LinkedIn.
Experience using design platforms such as Canva or similar tools to develop marketing assets.
Experience using marketing CRM systems (such as Brevo, Mailchimp or similar) for communications and audience engagement.
Ability to analyse marketing performance metrics and use insights to improve activity and engagement.
Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work both strategically and operationally, balancing planning with delivery.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and confidence working collaboratively across teams.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable adopting new digital tools and systems.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, particularly when communicating stories relating to People We Support.
Experience coordinating marketing activity across multiple teams or departments.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable
Experience managing or mentoring junior marketing staff or supporting colleagues with marketing activity.
Experience within social care, health, charity, education or another values-led sector.
Knowledge of SEO, Google My Business and website content management.
Experience supporting tender submissions, market positioning or commissioner engagement.
