Celebrating Quality, Compassion and Independence: Our Latest PAMMS Report

We are delighted to share the outcome of our recent PAMMS (ADASS East) inspection, which rated Abacus Care & Support as ‘Good’ overall, with a number of assessment criteria achieving an ‘Excellent’ rating.  

We're proud that the assessment recognised a strong person-centred culture, with people actively involved in their care and supported to live independently in their communities. 

The people we support told our inspector that they felt safe, respected and genuinely listened to. One person shared that “staff are very respectful”, going on to say, “I feel very safe here… staff are very good at reassuring me, and this is a safe space for me.” 

Co-produced care planning was recognised as a key strength, with inspectors noting that plans are individualised, regularly reviewed, and written in accessible, person-centred language. One person proudly stated, “I like being involved in my care, I wrote most of my care plan.” 

The report also highlighted the dedication and professionalism of our staff team. Our inspector observed that staff demonstrated strong knowledge around consent, safeguarding, medication management and infection control, and that people felt confident in staff skills and availability. One individual explained that staff are always available when needed and “always know the right things to say”. 

Alongside these strengths, the PAMMS assessment identified areas where systems can be strengthened further, particularly around documentation and complaints recording. We welcome this feedback and are already taking action, as continuous learning and improvement remain central to how we work. 

This report reflects what we strive for every day at Abacus Care & Support: safe, compassionate, empowering support that places people at the centre of everything we do. It also provides the guidance we need to improve our service provision and continue learning and growing. We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful to the people we support for their openness, trust and feedback.
