From Anxious to Active: Natalie's Story of Growing Confidence

Let’s talk about Natalie*.

When she joined Abacus, Natalie felt anxious about many aspects of daily life and struggled to do tasks independently.

Her parents said encouraging Natalie to take part in activities outside of the home was really challenging.

As Natalie learned that her care team would consistently provide encouragement and reassuring support, instances of distressed behaviour (like head banging) reduced and independence in daily tasks increased.

Natalie also enjoys regular activities like music therapy and swimming, and is getting more confident using public transport. Her family are really pleased she’s making more of her local community. (We are too.)

This is what Supported Living looks like for Natalie. It won’t look like this for everyone – but that’s exactly the point. We’ll work closely with you and the person you refer towards unique goals and ambitions.
